tough tough list to choose from and somehow I feel Backes still should have been nominated
Bergeron should win as he is weighed upon more so than the others in the defensive zone |

What a list. Teams would line up around the block for these guys if they ever hit FA
Bergy, Towes, Datsuyk is my order... but how can you go wrong with either one |

Will Datsyuk might scare your kids at a birthday party, but on ice talent they are 3 very good players.
Pull a name from a hat on this one. |

Nah, those 3 are better. I'm just thinking it would be nice if 400 forwards were considered, instead of just top players |

I'm not saying Jay McClement should win but he should at least be a consideration, the guy played more short handed minutes then any other player in the NHL this year on a PK that ranked 2nd. |

I know everybody screams about the Eastern teams getting all the trophy voting love, but come on, someday Ryan Callahan has got to get some recognition in this category. Just watch the Rangers-Bruins game tonight if you disagree. |

Why is there an award for defensive forwards, but not offensive defensemen? |

This is essentially an award for two-way forwards, not grinders.
Just like the Norris is most often two-way defensemen (sometimes offensive guys) and rarely stay-at-homers |

I don't see what that has to do with anything? The Richards and Carter trades? Good for them, I'm glad they are providing well for a team that's a constant Cup threat. But I'm also not the jackass that "hands down" claimed Kopitar is the best two-way forward in the game. |

I'd agree with that, Callahan is a beauty. But often it's not just about the gritty-balls-the-wall defensive game that gets noticed, but more the forwards that have good defensive game to go along with their high numbers. If Callahan potted a few more goals, I could see him taking Bergeron's spot. I'd venture to say he gets nominated in the next few years. |
